MIRACLE-GRO: Miraculous Gardening

The Project

Miracle-Gro, the world’s leading experts in garden care and plant products, approached JJ Motion Studio and Slagle Design for a series of short videos designed to help new gardeners become more familiar and comfortable with their gardens.

Each week we released a new episode about a different topic, covering the whole spectrum of fun gardening tips and tricks, from basic garden care to growing basil and tomatoes.

Our goal was to keep the audience interested and engaged throughout the series, so we made sure there was always plenty to look at in each frame. After all, gardening is a surprise every day — shouldn’t our animations have little surprises in them?

THE PROCESS

2020 was a year of turmoil and chaos, so the home was the number one place people spent their time, which meant that Miracle-Gro wanted to get some fresh content out to all the new gardeners out there who wanted to learn how to take care of their gardens.

We brought together a team of amazing animators and illustrators to create a world full of colorful blooms, a diverse cast of plant and human characters, and even a few insects to bring this content to life in an engaging way.
